Revealed: Fire chiefs warn of fresh MMC safety fears amid 'lack of research'

Safety is an issue that continues to dog the MMC sector.
While firms talk up their order books, it has emerged that serious worries about MMC remain among fire chiefs and one of the UK’s biggest insurance companies.
As housing secretary Michael Gove this week announced new efforts to get to grips with the post-Grenfell building safety crisis, a cross-peer parliamentary report emerged on housing supply.
Buried in the report’s footnotes are links to evidence supplied by among others the London Fire Brigade and National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), and insurance giant Zurich.
The submissions make for sobering reading for anyone involved in the MMC sector. (The full story is below)
Though some of these concerns have been raised before the fact that they continue to be voiced mean they must not be ignored.
MMC covers a broad spectrum.
But it is a stark reminder of the vital responsibility that those designing, constructing and installing homes have…and must never forget.
